Interesting Stats:

Barnsley have lost just one of the last seven meetings with Oldham (excluding a penalty shootout) and did the double over them the last time they were in the same division (2005-2006) scoring seven goals and conceding none.

Barnsley have a strong home record against the Latics, winning 19 of 39 meetings at Oakwell and they are unbeaten in the last nine here.

Barnsley and Oldham have already met this season, in the Johnstones Paint Trophy back in October. The Reds fell two goals behind at Boundary Park but produced a stirring second half comeback that saw Sam Winnall equalise in the final minute. However they were beaten 4-2 in the subsequent penalty shootout.

Oldham, who have failed to finish in the top ten of League One in any of the last six seasons looked to be mounting a serious assault for promotion earlier in this campaign and they went on an 11 match unbeaten run from the end of August to the beginning of November which saw them second in the table.

However they have won just once in eight league matches since and come into this match in 11th place, three points off the play-off places on the back of a three match losing streak, their worst run since September 2013.

Included in this was a 7-0 hammering at MK Dons last weekend, their heaviest defeat since a 7-1 mauling at home to Cardiff in 2002.

Oldham come into this match as away day draw specialists. They have had six stalemates on the road, the most in the league. Lee Johnson’s side have won only twice away from Boundary Park, only Crawley (1) have won less. But they have been beaten just three times (two of which have come in their last three away matches)

Oldham have conceded 33 goals in their 22 league games, the most amongst the top half sides and they have kept just one clean sheet in their past 13 League One outings.

Despite a strong showing on the road, the Latics have conceded 17 away goals; only four sides have conceded more.
