Reds chairman Peter Ridsdale hopes to sign a new striker before Tuesday's game against Bristol City.
Speaking at the supporters club meeting, Ridsdale said the new player was scheduled to sign on Monday, but injury problems at his current club have rocked negotiations.
Ridsdale also revealed just over 6000 season tickets have been sold.
