Coca-Cola Championship Matchday Four: West Bromwich Albion v Barnsley

Last updated : 31 August 2007 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Simon Davey will welcome back up to six players for the trip to the Hawthorns.

Injured Andy Johnson. Kayode Odejayi, Istvan Ferenczi, the ill Brian Howard and ineleigble Stephen Foster and Anderson Da Silva all missed the narrow Carling Cup defeat at Newcastle on Wednesday but will all return tomorrow.

Martin Devaney may miss out after twisting his back at St James Park whilst captain Paul Reid serves the final match of a three game suspension.

Players such as Grant McCann, Sam Togwell and Dwayne Mattis will all be hoping they did enough on Wednesday to warrant a start this weekend.

Probable LineUp:

Heinz Muller

Rob Kozluk

Dennis Souza

Stephen Foster

Lewin Nyatanga

Dominik Werling

Brian Howard

Andy Johnson/ Sam Togwell

Anderson Da Silva

Istvan Ferenczi

Barnsley travel to the Hawthorns hoping to banish the memories of their last visit. On the final day of the 2006-2007 season an admittedly below strength Reds line-up, four of which may start tomorrow were humbled 7-0 as the Baggies booked their place in the end of season Play-Offs.

That game probably more than any helped Davey realise he needed to recruit 13 new players this summer.

A hat-trick form Kevin Phillips plus strikes from Nathan Ellington (2) Robert Koren and Zoltan Gera eased West Brom home.

The previous victory at the Hawthorns came on the opening day of the 1996/1997- the season The Reds won promotion to the Premiership.

So maybe a win at the Hawthorns tomorrow is a lucky charm for a successful season………

Overall Barnsley have won just 7 times in 31 visits to West Brom so the task at hand tomorrow is a difficult one.
