Come In Number Ten

Barnsley Football Club have today confirmed the signing of 6ft 6 German goalkeeper Heinz Muller from Norweigen side Lillestrom to make it TEN summer signings from boss Simon Davey.

Muller's arrival has probably been the worst kept secret at the club but the move has been delayed as Lillestrom Director of Football, ex Oakwell striker Jan Aage Fjortfoft tried to secure a replacement for the keeper.

Muller was a regular in the Lillestrom team which played Newcastle United in last season's Intertoto Cup and will provide much needed competition for Nick Colgan who has again looked unconvincing in some pre-season games.

A big keeper is what the Reds have needed for some time and Muller could even start against Coventry City in the season opener on Saturday.

Muller has signed a three year contract at the club and Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"It is very pleasing when all the hard work put in by the Board and management pays off and we bring in a player we have chased for the last eight weeks.

"We are delighted to have Heinz with us and he will be another fine addition to our squad".
