McPhail set for shock return

Reds midfielder Stephen McPhail could return for the vital clash with Blackpool at Oakwell on Saturday.

He told the Barnsley Star: "It's been a long time out but if the gaffer wants me to play, I definitely want to play"

"It's frustrating that I've missed so many games, it's been a bit of a nightmare. But it's all behind me now and I'm looking forward to playing.

"I'm a bad spectator, it's not been good for us as it is with results. It's been tough to watch. I'm not one for watching games, you want to be out there kicking every ball.

"This was my second injury, I've played only eight league games, it's been a nightmare start here but I love the place, love the lads and everything about it, I just want to kickstart my own season and put together a run of 20 games or so."

McPhail suffered his knee injury against Doncaster Rovers with John Doolan's bad challenge after five minutes which amazingly went unpunished. However, McPhail is ready to forgive and forget.

"To be fair I didn't know much about it, the next day I looked on the video and it looked worse than it was. But that's football, you get hit by tackles.

"I'm not blaming anyone. It's a bad tackle and I'm sure that I'll make a bad tackle in my career. I don't know if he meant it.

"I haven't spoken to him, it doesn't bother me, you just get on with it."
