Team News

Barnsley boss Keith Hill will be forced into a team reshuffle for the final match of the 2011-2012 season. Midfielder Nathan Doyle is definitely ruled out of what could be his final match for the club and he is joined on the sidelines by Scott Golbourne, Rob Edwards, Jacob Butterfield, Luke Steele and David Preece. Kallum Higginbotham is unavailable after he was recalled by parent club Huddersfield but there could be a shock return for club captain Bobby Hassell. The 31 year old has been out since then of January with a knee injury but has been back training for over a week and could get a cameo role.

Interesting Stats:

Both clubs without a win in their last six matches- seven for Brighton.

Brighton had gone 10 games without a win before facing Barnsley earlier in the season but ended their barren run with a 2-0 success.

This will be the first time Barnsley’s season has ended in April for exactly 10 years. The 2001-2002 season also had an earlier than usual finish to coincide with the 2002 World Cup. That season ended a week earlier than the 2011-2012 campaign will- on the 21st April 2002.

Brighton have won just one of their last seven final day matches.

Barnsley have won three of their last six final day matches.

Both Barnsley and Brighton have won 12 of the 31 meetings between the two clubs but The Reds have won just once in 22 years, with Brighton chasing a sixth win in seven against Barnsley.

If Barnsley lose tomorrow they will finish on their lowest points total since the Premier League season of 1997-1998 when they gained 35 points. But that was in a 38 game season. Their lowest total from a 46 game campaign came in the relegation season of 2001-2002 when they gained 38 points.
