O'Connor Set For Reds Return

Barnsley are on the verge of bringing striker Garry O’Connor back to Oakwell on loan from Birmingham City. The 27 year old Scottish international had a four game spell with The Reds in September where he scored on his debut in the 5-2 hammering of Leeds. His spell at the club was cut short by a groin injury and he returned to St Andrews appearing against Arsenal, Blackpool and Brentford. But now Mark Robins has persuaded his Birmingham counterpart Alex McLeish to allow O’Connor to return to Oakwell. That nagging groin injury is however still a concern and is delaying the move.

Robins told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"We are hoping to re-sign Garry on loan very soon. He has been with us this morning but has a slight groin problem so we are just waiting on that before completing the paperwork.

"Hopefully it will be done in the not too distant future and he will be back with us".
