Barnsley have increased their contingent of promising youngsters from Premier League giants after landing 17 year old midfielder Daniel Crowley from Arsenal.

Following the double loan capture of Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell from Manchester United, Head Coach Lee Johnson has continued his policy of giving youthful promise a chance by recruiting Crowley on another youth loan that runs until the 3rd January 2016.

The Reds are believed to have beaten a host of Championship sides to Crowley’s signature and it is seen as a massive coup as the Coventry born youngster who arrived at the Emirates from Aston Villa went on the Arsenal first team’s pre-season tour to Singapore this summer, playing 26 minutes of the club’s Barclays Asia Trophy tie against a Singapore XI on the 15th July.

Crowley was a mainstay in the Arsenal Under 21 side last season whilst also captaining their FA Youth Cup side.

Johnson told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

“I’m delighted to welcome Dan on board. He is an exceptional and exciting talent who is very highly thought of at Arsenal and we are extremely pleased that we have been entrusted with his further development.

“This loan signing further evidences that Barnsley can persuade some of the country’s best young talent to come to us, even where there is stern competition. Undoubtedly, at just 17 years old, Dan is one of the best young players in his age group in Europe.

"Dan has genuine, top-level skill and quality. I am delighted Arsenal have chosen Barnsley to aid the development of this exceptional talent, as well as aiding us in our pursuit of promotion."
