Barnsley will meet Blackpool in a cup competition for the sixth time this Millenium after being drawn together in the First Round of the 2017-2018 Carabao Cup.

Daniel Stendel will sample English cup football for the first time in the week commencing the 13th August when the Reds travel to Bloomfield Road.

Barnsley have only progressed beyond the First Round of the League Cup once in the past four seasons when they made the Third Round last season, losing 1-0 to Tottenham at Wembley. Blackpool meanwhile have won only one of their last eight First Round ties, defeating Bolton 4-2 in 2016-2017 before being eliminated in the Second Round.

As mentioned before this will be the sixth cup tie between the two sides since 2000 and Barnsley have progressed only twice from the previous five.
