Reds receive formal complaint from Bradford City stewards

MESSAGE FROM PETER RIDSDALE

Following our game against Bradford City last Saturday I received a formal complaint from the match stewards regarding the behaviour of a small number of travelling supporters.
This complaint alleged that a number of Barnsley supporters used foul and abusive language throughout the match and, at the end of the game, used foul and abusive language towards the match officials, a number of our own players and our own manager.

I understand that a number of our supporters are frustrated at the present league position of our Club. This frustration is shared by many of us. This does not however justify the type of behaviour experienced last Saturday.

Indeed in the specific case of our own players and manager I do not see how anyone believes that this type of behaviour is likely to motivate individuals to get things right!

We will continue to strive to get things right on the field. In the meantime I would appeal to all Barnsley Football Club supporters to act in a responsible manner when following the team and when representing the Club at away fixtures.

We carry a huge responsibility to get things right for all of our supporters. This we will do.

I look to all Barnsley supporters to give us the opportunity to do so and to support the Club in a manner that gives credit to our Football Club.

Thank you.

Peter Ridsdale
