Reds See Gains From Trinity Win

Barnsley got their preparations for life back in League One off to a positive start with a 2-0 victory over National League North side Gainsborough Trinity in Daniel Stendel's first game in charge.

In sweltering conditions a brace from highly sought after top scorer Tom Bradshaw secured the win in a match which saw Stendel pick two different teams for each half.

It took only 10 minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Bradshaw headed home Alex Mowatt's corner and Mowatt was involved again for the second before half time, collecting the ball in midfield before playing in Zeki Fryers who crossed for Bradshaw to volley home.

As mentioned Stendel made 10 changes at the break with only goalkeeper Adam Davies playing the whole game and both Lloyd Isgrove and Kieffer Moore went close but the Reds couldn't add to the scoresheet.

Barnsley are next in action on Tuesday night when they head to Bootham Crescent to play another National League North side in York City.
