Ridsdale confident of Monk signing

The Reds are trying to sort out a permanent transfer agreement for Garry Monk with Southampton in the next few days.
Monk is eager to stay and chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "I've been in talks with Southampton and the player's agent and we are in a position where I am hopeful of the player signing before the weekend.

"I am planning to talk again today to Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe but as I say I'm very hopeful."

Monk, (25 next month), has made 16 first team appearances and has played centre back, right back and midfield for the Reds.

His best position by far is centre back and Monk's negative poll vote is probably explained by him being played out of position.
