The Reds first had a £200,000 bid rejected for the tricky winger early this month and it had been rumoured in the Paul Hayes days that a swap deal between the clubs would be arranged with JCR coming to Oakwell with Hayes heading south.
Campbell-Ryce started out at Charlton and made three first team appearances. He spent time on loan with Leyton Orient, Wimbledon and Chesterfield. Rotherham signed him in 2004 and he spent two injury blighted years at Milmoor and spent more time on loan with Southend and Colchester before a permanent move to Southend where he made 43 appearances and scored twice.
He has also won six caps for Jamaica. He has signed a two year deal with the club and is likely to start tomorrow due to Devaney's injury at Newcastle on Wednesday night.
