Watt A Signing!!

Last updated : 26 October 2005 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Promising Chelsea defender Steven Watt is today set to move Oakwell on a one month loan deal.

This is the mystery signing that has been talked about and will be brought in to cover a depleted defence.

Watt is a Scotland Under 21 international and played for the Young Scots against Slovenia and Belarus last month.

Watt made his Chelsea debut in the FA Cup against Scunthopre in January, ( A game in which Paul Hayes scored) and also figured for the Premiership Champions in their final league game against Newcastle last season.

Watt is highly thought of by Jose Mourinho and is a big coup if only here for a month or so.

Andy Ritchie told the Official website:

"We expect to bring in Steven Watt from Chelsea tomorrow (Wednesday). He will come up in the afternoon and have a medical with the doc before signing a one month loan.

We are delighted to have got him because he is very, very highly rated at Chelsea and there were a number of other clubs interested.

He is 6"3, good in the air and is quick and we have had nothing but good reports back when we have had him watched"

BarnsleyBoy says: Class signing should hopefully help out the defence that’s just missing the calmness of Reid and Carbon. Saying that we have 2nd best defensive record in league so things can only get better hey!
