Dougall Top Dog For Reds In Draw With Tigers

Barnsley rounded off their pre-season preparations with a hard fought draw against Championship outfit Hull at Oakwell.

New recruit Kenny Dougall got his Barnsley career off to a flying start by netting after just two minutes, Ryan Hedges corner dropped to the edge of the area where Adam Jackson nudged to Dougall to let fly with a daisy cutter that arrowed into the bottom right corner of Hull keeper David Marshall's goal.

Just after the half hour mark the Tigers were level when Jarrod Bowen managed to escape the attentions of the Reds defence to run through and slip the ball past Adam Davies.

Both sides created chances in the second half but Barnsley came closest to grabbing a winner when a stunning 25 yarder from Alex Mowatt crashed back off the crossbar.

One note of concern for Barnsley was Hedges limping off on 23 minutes to be replaced by Victor Adeboyejo just seven days before the new season kicks off.

This result means Barnsley end pre-season with an official first team record of: W:3 D:2 L:1 F:14 A:6
