Torino Inflict Italian Job

Barnsley were the victims of an Italian Job as they were thumped 5-0 by Torino yesterday during their tour of Italy.

The seven time Serie A Champions had far too much class and guile for the under-strength League One Reds with Argentinean striker Marcelo Larrondo grabbing a first half hat-trick.

Morocco international Omar El Kaddouri slotted home a penalty, and also saw one saved by Adam Davies later in the game, whilst Brazilian Paulo Vitor Barreto completed the rout.

The departures this week of Luke Steele and Chris O’Grady saw Davies; signed this summer from Sheffield Wednesday, take the number one jersey with manager Danny Wilson keen to see whether he can stake a serious claim to be the club’s first choice goalkeeper this season, whilst Kane Hemmings started up front with trialist Will Hoskins. Wilson will decide this week whether to offer former Rotherham striker Hoskins a permanent contract.

Barnsley have so far lost all three of their pre-season friendlies, 2-0 at Halifax, 2-1 to Al-Ain and 5-0 to Torino.

Barnsley:

Torino:
