View From T'Other Side: Crystal Palace

It’s been a very difficult season for Crystal Palace off the field, but you must be delighted with how the players are responded on it?

They have been magnificent all season. A lot of credit has to go to Neil Warnock for keeping them motivated against the odds, and the captain Shaun Derry, who has led by example with his performances on the pitch, and not complaining once off it. We have talent in our team, but we are very limited in terms of numbers. With the backlog of games we've experienced recently they must be shattered, but they still keep going. They could teach a lot of former players a thing or two about hard work and commitment.

How much of a blow is the departure of Neil Warnock as manager and what do you think of his replacement Paul Hart? (Hart is an ex Barnsley manager who got a rough ride from the fans during his year in charge)

Losing Neil is a huge blow. We were pushing for the playoffs before the points deduction which showed what a superb job he'd done with such limited resources. However no club wants a manager whose mind is elsewhere, so he had to go. It remains to be seen how Paul Hart gets on. After Saturdays win over Sheffield United everything in the garden was rosy. We played with freedom and fully deserved the win. Then we go and lose at home to a team who had conceded 5 goals in their previous game. The proof will be in the pudding. I just hope the fans give him time, as he's our only option at the moment! I'm sure he'll receive a warm welcome on Saturday ;-)

After being forced to drop from the edge of the play-offs to the brink of the relegation zone due to administration, would most Palace fans be happy to finish fourth bottom this season, or is there a belief to push back towards the top half of the table?

I would take fourth bottom right now, thank you very much. Our squad is wafer thin and we have some tough games coming up. Finshing 21st would be considered a great success and I think everyone at the club is very realistic about this.

Who do the supporters blame for the financial mess at Selhurst Park, Simon Jordan Previous managers?

Well ultimately it is down to Simon Jordan, but I think a lot of fans find it hard to blame him, after he rescued our club 10 years ago. Since then he has put a lot of his own money into the club, got us promoted to the Premiership and kept us challenging almost every year. I'm sure the full facts will become apparent in the future, but for now, in my opinion, he is innocent until proven guilty.

With the sale of Victor Moses in January, who should Barnsley fans be wary of in the Palace ranks this season?

Our star performers this season have been Julian Speroni (GK), Nathaniel Clyne (RB), Shaun Derry (CM), Neil Danns (CM/LM) and Darren Ambrose (RM/FW). In my opinion Speroni is the best keeper in the Championship bar none. I believe Nathaniel Clyne will go on to bigger and better things than Victor Moses. I am astounded we kept hold of him. Shaun Derry has led by example and often runs the midfield, despite looking like an OAP! Neil Danns provides the skill and energy in our midfield. He will run all day. Then there's the goal machine Ambrose. Give him a yard and he'll have a pop. Usually hitting the target.

Also, look out for Nicky Carle in the centre of the park. He has been outstanding since Paul Hart took over and never really got a fair run under Neil Warnock. Probably our most skillful player.

What have you made of Barnsley’s season so far?

I think the appointment of Mark Robins was terrific for Barnsley. He did a great job at Rotherham and he comes from a long line of ex-Manchester United players who have gone on to make very decent managers. He seems to have made the team his own, and with a couple of additions, you look a reasonably strong Championship outfit. Personally I would tip you for a top half finish at least next season.

Who would you like to see in the Palace side from Barnsley (if anybody) and who do you see as our dangermen?

We could do with an Iain Hume type player to compliment Alan Lee upfront.

As for your dangermen - it's got to be be Jon Macken hasn't it? He's bound to score after being absolutely terrible in his time here. Bogdanovic looked handy at Selhurst too. Our threadbare defence will have to be on their game on Saturday otherwise we could be embarrassed again like last season.

Prediction for both sides league finishes in May?

Barnsley - 12th.
Palace - 21st.

How many travelling supporters do you expect will be coming to Oakwell this weekend?

I will have a stab in the dark and go for about 800-1000.

Score Prediction for Saturday?

An optimistic 1-1 draw.
