The Reds Academy side produced a breath-taking display of football as they beat Manchester United's Academy 3-2.

The Red roared into a 3 goal lead through Luke Waterfall, Jacob Butterfield and a Michael Coulson penalty.

Despite United pulling back two late goals, The Reds held on for a memorable victory.

Meanwhile the Reserves fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Birmingham today with all 3 goals coming in the opening 9minutes!

Birmingham went in front just 180 seconds in when Matthew Birley rifled home a great shot from the edge of the area.

The Reds were level within 2 minutes though.

Marc Richards put the drama of being accused of racist abuse behind him to drag The Reds level.

The on loan Ritchie Jones sent in a cross that caused chaos in the Birmingham area and the ball eventually fell to Richards from 6 yards who stabbed home.

Incredibly though Birmingham were back in front with the game just 9 minutes old.

Peter Kavanagh's right wing cross was met perfectly by Nick Wright who gave Kyle Letheren no chance.

Despite The Reds pressing for the remaining 81 minutes there was to be no further goals
