Young stars Simon Heslop and Robert Atkinson got the goals to give Barnsley's second string a 2-1 success over their Shrewsbury counterparts at Oakwell to give Barnsley their 4th win of the campaign.
Heslop fired The Reds in front after just 5 minutes after a great cross from Nathan Joynes.
Atkinson grabbed Barnsley's second after 54 minutes in fortuitous circumstances when the Shrews keeper, MacKenzie dropped Nardiello's shot over the line after Atkinson's challenge.
The Shrews did grab a lifeline after 71 minutes when Adaggio was set up by Leslie, but the Reds hung on.
