Whilst the senior side look like they are heading for yet another fight to avoid relegation the young Reds marched to the top of the FA Premier Academy League Group D with a fine 2-1 victory at Derby County yesterday morning.
18 year old Jordan Clark- who has made five appearances for the first team grabbed a brace against fellow title challengers Derby to establish a one point lead over The Rams and nudge above Newcastle on goal difference, despite the Toon’s thumping 4-0 win at Huddersfield.
The Reds next match is at home to second from bottom Middlesbrough next Saturday at 12 noon.
