Barnsley FC Season Review 2008/2009

Last updated : 13 May 2009 By Alastair Limb (tykesmad)
In a snow interrupted month, the Reds only managed to play three games and in that came the most satisfying moment of the season...

Tuesday 17th February 2009
Match Thirty-One: Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Barnsley

The Reds completed the first double over the men from S6 in 63 years with a fine solo effort from Jamal Campbell-Ryce proving the winner. The real defining moment came in the last 5 minutes when Reds defender Bobby Hassell miraculously cleared off the line from Marcus Tudgay.

Match Thirty-Two: Barnsley 0-0 Charlton Athletic

A dull game played in blustery conditions ended 0-0 with neither side really looking like winning the game. Loanees Andranik and Adam Hammill both came close in the last 10 minutes.

Saturday 28th February 2009
Match Thirty-Three: Barnsley 2-1 QPR

The Reds took the lead in this one, when Maltese pair Michael Mifsud and Daniel Bogdanovic combined with the latter heading in from a fine cross. Damien Delaney equalised for QPR after a slip by Bobby Hassell but Anderson de Silva lashed home what proved to be the winner just before half time.

February record: P3 W2 D1 L0 F3 A1 GD+2 Pts7
Top scorer: Daniel Bogdanovic, Anderson, Jamal Campbell-Ryce (1).
