Blackpool look to have started the bidding war for Barnsley’s much sought after winger Adam Hammill after SKY Sports claimed last night that the Premier League new boys had made a bid for the Scouser.

Hammill, who is the Reds top scorer this campaign with eight goals, spent a short time on loan at Bloomfield Road in the 2008-2009 season before joining The Reds on loan later on that campaign. His stock has risen a lot since then and now a host of Premier League clubs are tracking the 22 year old including Everton and West Ham.

But it is believed Pool boss Ian Holloway has stolen a march on his rivals by tabling a bid- rumoured to be around the £2m mark.

SKY Sports reports:

Skysports.com understands Blackpool have made a bid to sign Barnsley's highly-rated winger Adam Hammill.

The 22-year-old has been one of the most impressive performers in the Championship this season and has weighed in with eight goals for Barnsley.

He was recently linked with a £2million move to Everton and Tykes boss Mark Robinsexpressed his hope that Hammill would stay at Oakwell.

Hammill has also previously intimated that he would see out the season with Barnsley, butBlackpool are ready to test the Tykes' resolve.

It is understood that the Premier League's surprise packages have made an offer to bring Hammill back to Bloomfield Road.

The former Liverpool youngster spent the first half of the 2008/09 season with Blackpool and made 23 appearances during Simon Grayson's time in charge.

Current Seasiders boss Ian Holloway has already made several astute signings in recent months and is now weighing up a move to add Hammill to his squad.
