Paper Talk: 1.6.07 Rivals Chase Lucketti

Last updated : 02 June 2007 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Reports are surfacing that Barnsley and local rivals Hull City are chasing Sheffield United centre-half Chris Lucketti on a free transfer from recently relegated Sheffield United.

The 35 year old has been made available by new Blades boss Bryan Robson and will now choose between The Reds and Hull - who finished 20th and 21st respectively in the Championship this season - according to several reports including the Barnsley Chronicle.

Lucketti was a major target in the Andy Ritchie era but wanted to try his luck at getting into the United side whilst they were in the Premiership.

Barnsley are slight favourites as it is located closer but Hull may be able to offer more in terms of wages.

Since signing for United in April 2006 from Preston he has made just 12 appearances, 9 in the Premiership.
