Reds Beck In Business?

Barnsley and Doncaster are two clubs keen to keep Leeds United goal-machine Jermaine Beckford in Yorkshire according to the Yorkshire Post.

Beckford is set to leave Elland Road after rejecting a new contract in the wake of the Whites failure to gain promotion to the Championship.

The 25 year old hit an incredible 34 goals in just 37 starts last season and would command a fee of about £2m. Doncaster have admitted their interest but said they would not go to that price. As with all transfer speculation, Barnsley have not commented.

Meanwhile one striker is set to be plying his trade at Oakwell and than is Jon Macken, who moved closer to signing a new one year contract.

Macken was The Reds second highest scorer last season with nine goals and along with Luke Steele and Michael Coulson was offered fresh terms this summer. Steele and Coulson have both now signed and Macken is set to join them. The 31 year told the Star:

"I'm looking to sign. I want to stay at the club. I really enjoyed last season, to be honest I didn't want it to end,"

He added: "Of course we were struggling but we proved we can compete with the best teams and I was scoring goals as well.

"I've just got back from my holiday but I'll hopefully be going into the club next week to sign my new contract. I'm already looking forward to next season."
