Barnsley F.C Player Season Reports: 2007-2008

Last updated : 27 May 2008 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Martin Devaney

League: 24(10) 4

FA Cup: 3(1) 0

League Cup: 1: 0

Another effective season for the man the fans dub "Disco". Although a slightly disappointing haul of just four goals he produced two sublime crosses hat led to goals against Liverpool and Chelsea and a cracking volley against Watford. Needs to be more consistent however. C+

Istvan Ferenczi

League: 25(12) 5

FA Cup: 4: 0

League Cup: 0(1) 1

After bursting onto the scene last season with 6 goals in 14 starts that kept The Reds up in 06/07, this campaign has been a big disappointment. Just five goals have arrived and only one since December. Will always remains a fans favourite due to his 100% effort but Davey has placed him on the transfer list. D

Stephen Foster

League: 41: 1

FA Cup: 5: 2

League Cup: 0: 0

At £100,000 could well be the bargain of the decade. Courted by Andy Ritchie and finally signed by Davey he has been a rock at the heart or right hand side of a defence that has conceded 20 less league goals than it did last season. His wonderful header against Liverpool was a major highlight too. Deservedly named Player of the Year. A

Brian Howard

League: 41: 13

FA Cup: 5: 1

League Cup: 1: 0

Captain who has had an up and down season but nonetheless was the club's top scorer. His early season form was outstanding and led to rumours of a £3m move to the Premier League. His form dipped after Christmas but he hit the headlines with the 93rd minute winner at Anfield. He came good again at the tail end of the season with a hat-trick against Ipswich. Will he still be at the club in August though? B

Bobby Hassell

League: 17(3) 0

FA Cup: 5: 0

League Cup: 0: 0

An unfortunate knee injury kept Hassell out of the side until Boxing Day and the fine form of Foster has seen Hassell moved into midfield. He has grown accustomed to the role in recent weeks however and was outstanding in the cup win over Chelsea. C
