Barnsley FC Player Season Reports 2008-2009

Last updated : 17 May 2009 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Martin Devaney:

League Appearances: 16(10)

League Goals: 0

FA Cup 0(1)

League Cup: 1

This will go down as probably the most disappointing season out of the four Devaney has spent at Oakwell. He has been a bit-part player in 08-09 and it is the first season since he arrived that he hasn't scored. Devaney was a regular up until November but then Davey's five man midfield experiment and the arrival of Adam Hammill pushed "Disco" out of the side. D

Mounir El Haimour:

League Appearances: 8(8)

League Goals: 0

FA Cup: 1

League Cup: 0

Was billed as a big player after an impressive pre-season but it has certainly not worked out for the Frenchman. He doesn't seem to have the physique for football and it is still unclear where his best position down the left hand side is. E

Stephen Foster:

League Appearances: 38

League Goals: 3

FA Cup 1

League Cup: 1

Another solid season from Fozzie, which saw him handed the captains armband in November when Brian Howard departed from Sheffield United. The side looks far more solid when Foster is there. B

Adam Hammill:

League Appearances: 9(5)

League Goals: 1

FA Cup 0(1)

League Cup: 0

Will hopefully be number one on Simon Davey's summer shopping list after making a real impact in his loan spell from
Liverpool. His runs and moments of quality were often what changed games in The Reds favour. Got a richly deserved goal at Plymouth on the final day. B

Bobby Hassell:

League Appearances: 34(6)

League Goals: 0

FA Cup 1

League Cup: 1

An excellent season from Hassell who has produced magnificent performances at right back and as a holding midfielder. Fully deserved the Player of the Year award and nobody of a red persuasion will ever forget his goal-line clearance in the dying minutes at Hillsborough. A

Iain Hume:

League Appearances: 15

League Goals: 4

FA Cup 0

League Cup: 1

Saw his season cruelly and horrifically cut short in November by Chris Morgan's elbow, but enough has been seen to show he could be a big player next season. Four goals in 15 games including pearlers against
Doncaster and Derby is not to be sniffed at. B
