A Look At The Weekend Action

Last updated : 02 September 2012 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

…….Unfortunately only 8,088 supporters were in the stadium to see it- the lowest league attendance at Oakwell for six years, a time when The Reds were still in League One.

Barnsley have won both their first two home games of the season without conceding a goal, just like they did in 2010-2011. They have actually gone three successive home games without conceding if you include the final game of 2011-2012 when they drew 0-0 with Brighton.

Bobby Hassell was sent off for the second time in his eight year Barnsley career. He is the first Reds player to be shown a red card in the league since Nathan Doyle was dismissed in March. That was also in a 1-0 home victory, versus Portsmouth.

This victory was only Barnsley’s second in 10 meetings with Bristol City and was the first time in eight clashes that less than two goals have been scored in a match between these two sides.
