Announcement Expected Shortly On Argentine

Argentinian midfielder Hugo Roberto Colace is set to complete his signing from Brazilian side Flamengo today and become the fourth South American at Oakwell.

Today's Barnsley Chronicle reports that Reds boss Simon Davey was putting the finishing touches to a deal for an "unnamed Argentinian" last night and that he would be taking a medical. As revealed by TykesMad yesterday though that man is likely to be 24 year old Colace who featured for his country in the 2003 Under 20 FIFA Youth Championships.

More soon….

Meanwhile Davey is set to turn his sights on Lewin Nyatanga's Derby County team-mate Darren Moore to replace the 19 year old Welsh international who looks increasingly likely to remain at Pride Park.

Nyatanga has made 53 appearances for The Reds in three separate loan spells and when he arrived for a third stint in January a deal was put in place to make the signing permanent. However this deal included a get out clause for both clubs and it appears Rams boss Paul Jewell has used his.

This will turn Davey's focus to 34 year old Moore who has been made surplus to requirements by Jewell after Derby's relegation from the Premier League.

Moore has made 90 appearances for Derby over two years including 31 in the Premier League. The bulky Centre-half started his career at Bradford City and fancies a move back to Yorkshire to end his career.

Davey told the Sheffield Star he was on the lookout for a Nyatanga replacement but as always would not name names:

"Apparently Lewin is staying at Derby. He's saying he's going to fight for his place there and that's where we're at,"

"Lewin would have been a good acquisition. He's done well for us for the last two seasons but players make decisions. We'll move on from it. If we don't sign Lewin Nyatanga we'll sign someone else."
