Injury prone midfielder Matty Appleby is training with his former club Darlington despite still having a year to run on his contract at Oldham.
Appleby missed all last season through injury and the Latics want him off their wage bill.
Matty played more than 100 games for the Quakers before joining Barnsley for £200,000 and became a crucial member of the team that won promotion to the Premiership in 1997.
