Assulin Move Put On Hold

Barnsley’s move for Manchester City winger Gai Assulin has been put on hold after the 20 year old Israeli failed to prove his fitness for The Reds.

The former Barcelona youngster was due to seal a two month loan stint at Oakwell but boss Keith Hill announced today that the move has been put on hold.

He told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"On advice from the medical staff at Man City, it's just a deal that we can't do. Common sense has prevailed. It's something we wanted to do, but we're not going to force through a signing when the player's not hundred percent fit."

The club may go back for the one cap Israel international in the New Year.

There has been an exit at Oakwell this afternoon though after midfielder Nathan Doyle secured a loan move to League One Preston North End.

The 24 year old signed on a free transfer from Hull City in 2009 and was a regular under former boss Mark Robins but has made just 10 appearances under Keith Hill this campaign and he will now stay with Preston who lie 15th in League One until the 2nd January 2012. It means he teams up with his former Hull boss Phil Brown who signed him for the Tigers back in 2007 and former team-mate Iain Hume who played with Doyle at Oakwell. Ironically Doyle’s first ever senior appearance came against Preston with Derby County.
