Barnsley 2-0 Bristol City: Post Match Reaction

: "We knew it was a difficult game and Bristol City have been on a good run recently. They have taken some notable scalps in the last month. It was a hard, physical game but our lads were magnificent. I think we deserved it at the end.

"Bristol probably had more possession in the second half but we were magnificent in defence and got our heads and bodies onto everything. We would have lost that game last season.

"It was a frustrating afternoon and at times we did not pass the ball well. We panicked a little when we were clearing our lines and that put us under pressure. We needed more composure but were better in the last 15 minutes.

"We have quality in our squad now and virtually two players to come in and do a good job in every position. I though Robbie Williams and Antony Kay did well considering they have been out injured for a while.

"I think losing Chris Shuker in the first half caused us more problems then we would have thought. Chris just turned his ankle but he should be ok for next week. He is a tough little lad and fought back from a dead leg this week but I think he knew he could not continue.

"Marc Richards deserves everything that is coming his way at the moment. He is a strong lad and is showing his quality at the moment".

Meanwhile Bristol City manager Gary Johnson is set to appeal against Louis Carey's red card for bringing down Tommy Wright for the penalty that sercured Barnsley's victory.

Johnson claims that Wright fouled Carey before hand and told BBC Radio Bristol:

" I thought there was a bit pf pulling and shoving in the lead up to the two entering the penalty area.

They were both doing it and all I can do is ask him (referee Nigel Miller) to have a look at it.
