Barnsley 5-2 Scunthorpe United: Post Match Reaction

Last updated : 11 December 2005 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

" We always knew that we had a performance like that in us because we have seen it at times this season. We were below par in the last two matches but today we put them under pressure right from the off and that paid dividends.

We are a good side when we play like that and that is what we had missed in the last two matches.

We put them under pressure and they buckled after that we played some good football, created some excellent chances and we were top notch.

We upped the tempo and put them under pressure. We gave them no encouragement.

We could have had three more goals and probably should have. We needed to be more clinical in front of goal and the lads showed that today although we probably should have scored at least three more.

We were miserly in defence although I was disappointed with the second goal because we did not get close to the player. Penalties like that happen when you make a decision to tackle.

Paul Hayes capped off an excellent display with a good goal at the end. He had to deal with a lot of stick at the start of the game but that was a great reply"

Barnsley Boy says: Excellent display after Tuesday and excellent result that nobody expected. For once we took our chances. Only disappointment was to concede the two goals late on. I felt Flinders deserved a clean sheet. But excellent display Reds BIG WELL DONE!!!!
