Heinz Muller

The big German goalkeeper suffered a horrible injury to his knee during a game with relegated Colchester in January but still played on and kept the Reds 1-0 up. He badly damaged his anterior cruciate ligaments and tore the lateral meniscus.

Reds physio Matt Konopinski said:

"Heinz is doing a lot more football-specific sessions with Kelham every day now and he is coming along fine. We are very pleased with what he is doing and where he is at the moment".

Anderson de Silva

The Brazilian midfielder suffered a similar injury to Muller a month later at Norwich in the 1-0 defeat. He tore his anterior ligament and has been back on the trail to fitness after an operation in Spain.

Konopinski said:

"Anderson is doing more and more now. He is going in with the squad to do football drills and is right where he should be.

"He is very, very eager to be back playing and we have to hold him back a little at the moment".

The Reds physio was talking to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk.

Meanwhile, two of the Reds new signings are in the treatment room. Hugo Colace has a hamstring problem and has missed the last two friendlies and is expected to miss the start of the season.

Iain Hume has been suffering with what seems like a perennial knee injury, he told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"I am thoroughly enjoying it here. I have a bit of a niggle with my knee at the moment and that has meant that I have not played as many games as I would have liked but hopefully that will be ok by Monday and I will be back in contention.

"It was something that just came on during the Yeovil game but I had done the bulk of the really hard training before then. It means I have missed some games but I am still enjoying my time here and can't wait to get back playing again."
