Barnsley Reserves beat Terriers in the Cup

The Reds Reserves maintained their unbeaten record in the Avon Insurance League Cup to go through to the knockout stages of the competition after beating Huddersfield 2-1 at Oakwell..

Colin Walker’s side were behind after just 9 minutes but fought back with two second half goals and hung on for the win.

Young midfielder Richard Carrington scored the equaliser on 58 minutes and the winner came from the penalty spot after 74. Trialist Adrian Littlejohn was brought down and Griff Jones slotted the penalty home.

Barnsley lined up as follows: Ghent, Harban, Sheard (Wroe 81), Ward (Baker 46), Laight, Oldham, Bertos (Tonge 90), Gorre, Jones, Carrington, Littlejohn. Subs: Parry, Cyrus.
