Team News

Lewin Nyatanga is Barnsley's only injury doubt for a game Barnsley must win to keep their slim play-off hopes alive.

The Welsh defender suffered a serious eye cut at Colchester and will have to be assessed.

Adam Davies returned to the side following his thigh tear and is fully fit again.

Dale Jennings is a big doubt for the squad after being declared unfit by manager Lee Johnson.

Interesting Stats:

Both players who scored in the corresponding fixture back in November, Eion Doyle and Keith Treacy, are no longer with the respective clubs.

Barnsley's 2-1 defeat at the Proact Stadium back in November was only their second loss in eight meetings with Chesterfield and only the third from the last 13.

The Reds have lost one of the last six meetings at Oakwell, winning three and drawing the other two.

Chesterfield have scored in nine of their past 11 visits to Barnsley.

Barnsley thumped Chesterfield 4-1 in a League Cup tie back in 1997 but in the 14 league clashes since Chesterfield's 4-1 win at Oakwell in 1971, only two have featured a winner by more than one goal.

The home side is unbeaten in this fixture in each of the last five meetings with the away side only winning two of the last 10.

In what has been a roller-coaster ride to claim sixth spot in the Skybet League One, it now looks like Chesterfield are in pole position as we hit the final straight.

Less than a month ago Barnsley sat in that final playoff spot following six successive victories, but fast forward another six games and the Spireites hold a three point lead over seventh and are seven clear of Barnsley after winning five of those six.

Paul Cook's men are currently on a four match-winning streak, their best run since February of last year.

They have won three of their last four on the road
