Interesting Stats

Barnsley have won each of their last two home meetings with Coventry but they are the only two successes in the last 15 home and away.

This will be the first meeting not taking place in the second tier of English football since both sides were in the Premier League in 1997-1998.

The Sky Blues failed to score in their last visit to Oakwell in October 2011 but that was the first time they had failed to net in seven trips. They had managed 11 goals in those seven games.

Four of Coventry’s last 11 goals against Barnsley have arrived in the 90th minute of after. They have scored injury time goals in four of the last seven meetings.

The last time these two sides met at Oakwell current Barnsley captain Martin Cranie was in the Coventry side.

In Coventry’s last game, a 3-1 win at Rotherham on New Year’s Day, Chris Dagnall was in the Coventry side but could now line up against them tomorrow.

Coventry have lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions.

They are the Football League’s highest scorers having netted a staggering 52 times in just 24 games.

It is now nine games since they failed to score but they have gone 13 games since they kept a clean sheet and only Crewe have conceded more than their 42 in League One.

The Sky Blues have won five of their 11 away league games this season and only Leyton Orient and Peterborough have netted more on the road.

Coventry have managed to progress past the Third Round of the FA Cup seven times in the last 12 years but have failed to manage it in any of the last three.

Barnsley’s record stands at one win in 12, two in 26 matches, and eight in 38.

They have gone six matches without a win, their joint longest run of the season.

The Reds have failed to score a first half goal in ten of their last 11 matches.

Danny Wilson has now won just one of his last 13 matches as Barnsley manager, and he has failed to win any of his first four since returning. He becomes the first Reds manager since Paul Hart in 2004 to fail to win any of his first four matches at the helm. It took Hart six matches to gain his first victory.

Wilson has lost each of his first two home games at the helm. Keith Hill lost his first three back in 2011.

This will be Wilson’s first FA Cup game as Barnsley manager since he led them to the Quarter-Finals in 1998. The then Premier League Reds knocked out Tottenham and Manchester United before falling to Newcastle.

Since then Barnsley have managed to advance beyond the Third Round just three times. They reached the Quarter-Finals the following year- 1999, the Semi-Finals in 2008 and the Quarter-Finals again last season.
