Interesting Stats:

This will be the first time in five meetings that the two sides have clashed on a Saturday afternoon. Each of the last four have been on Tuesday nights and only one of the last seven has been on a Saturday.

The last time these two sides met, at Oakwell just over a year ago, Barnsley’s inform striker Sam Winnall was in the Scunthorpe side. He scored 23 times for the Iron that season, securing him a move to Barnsley in the summer.

The last time they met in the league, again at Oakwell, the man in the Scunthorpe dugout tomorrow, Mark Robins, was Barnsley manager.

Barnsley have lost just two of the last nine meetings, four of which have ended in draws.

Scunthorpe have won just twice at Oakwell (in 1959 and 1954), from 17 visits, losing 12. The Reds are unbeaten in 15 home clashes with the Iron.

These are usually low scoring encounters, just 15 goals have been scored in the last eight, less than two per game, and two of the last three have ended goal-less.

Scunthorpe are unbeaten in their last five matches on the road, three of which they have won.

Overall though this season the Iron have managed to win just four of their 17 league matches, the joint lowest in the division and have lost 9- only Crewe who are the only side below them in the table have lost more.

Despite Scunthorpe’s recent resurgence away from Glanford Park they have conceded 18 away goals so far in 2014-2015, again only Crewe have conceded more.

They have though managed to score 14 goals on the road, which is the best record outside the division’s top seven sides. Mark Robins’ side have scored at least twice in each of their last six away matches and have only failed to score in one away game this season.

Robins, who won 29 of his 92 games in charge at Oakwell between 2009 and 2011 has lost just one of his seven games in charge of Scunthorpe since replacing Russ Wilcox.

Two of his three victories have come in the league, the Iron won only two of their 11 League One games under Wilcox.
