Interesting Stats:

The first ever meetings between these two sides took place in the Semi-Finals of the FA Cup in 1912. Barnsley won a replay 1-0 after a 0-0 draw in the first game and went on to win the cup that year for the one and only time in their history.

The two sides have been evenly matched over the years. Barnsley have won 16 meetings to Swindon’s 15 and have scored one more goal (54 to 53)

However Barnsley have lost just one of their last seven games with the Robins, and are unbeaten at home against them since 1998 (seven games)

Three of the last four Oakwell meetings have ended in stalemates.

Barnsley manager Danny Wilson has taken charge of 238 Reds matches during his two spells in charge. He also managed Swindon for 121 matches between 2008 and 2011.

Swindon have lost just once in the League this season, at Crawley on the 16th August. It is their only defeat inside 90 minutes in all competitions this season with their only other reverse coming through an extra time defeat to Brighton in the League Cup.

The Robins are unbeaten in six in the league, their best run since January/February 2013.

Victory tomorrow will give them three wins in a row in all competitions for the first time since April.

This is Swindon’s best start to a season since 2009-2010 when they lost just one of their first 15 matches in all competitions and ended up reaching the League One Play-Off final where they lost to Millwall.

They have scored 17 goals in their eight league matches so far. Only the division’s top two sides Bristol City and MK Dons have scored more.

The Robins have played 11 matches so far in 2014-2015, in three competitions and have only failed to score in one of those matches, that solitary Crawley defeat.

Striker Jonathan Obika and midfielder Andy Williams have both scored in each of the last three matches whilst Obika has actually scored in each of the last four.

STAT! – Swindon have lost exactly half of their matches on this date, including four of the last six.

JOINT STAT! – Barnsley and Swindon have met once before on the 27th September with Barnsley securing an emphatic 6-2 success at Oakwell in a Third Division match back in 1961. The score-line was made more remarkable by the fact the two sides had played out a 1-1 draw at Swindon’s County Ground just one week earlier.

It was only The Reds third win from their first 12 matches of the 1961-1962 season, which had included seven defeats and had dumped them to the foot of the table. This win sparked a resurgence and was the first of seven wins in 12 that lifted them up to 18th.

Barnsley would eventually finish in 20th place, one place and two points above the relegation zone.

Swindon had also made a dreadful start to the season and this hammering was their sixth defeat from their first 13 matches, although it was the only reverse in a run of three wins.

They dropped to second from bottom after losing to Barnsley but finished in a credible ninth after winning eight of their final 11 matches
