Swindon manager Mark Cooper said:

“We didn’t play particularly well and we didn’t have our usual control. It was a bit end to end for our liking. At half time we changed to two strikers and tried to make it more of an open game. It went the wrong way to start with but we managed to hit back. We managed to get through and get three points. We have to be pleased. These are never easy places to come. It’s the first time we’ve won here since I’ve been in charge.”

Interesting Stats:

The last time these two sides met at Oakwell, exactly 12 months ago, Barnsley new boy Michael Smith was in the Swindon lineup

Swindon’s 2-0 win at the County Ground in February saw the Robins edge ahead 17 wins to 16 against Barnsley.

The Reds have won only two of the last 10 encounters, both of which came in the promotion season of 2005-2006.

There has been a winner in each of the last four encounters and only one team has netted in each of the four.

Barnsley have won only three of the last nine clashes at Oakwell.

Swindon did the double over Barnsley last season, without conceding a goal, the first time this has happened since 1987-1988 and only the second time ever.

One team has scored at least twice in each of the past six encounters.

After being humbled in last year’s Play-Off Final, Swindon have made a good start to mounting another promotion challenge.

The Robins have lost only one of their first six league matches and are still unbeaten on the road.

It is eight years since Swindon last were unbeaten in their first four away matches.

They have scored 12 goals so far this season - an average of two per game- only Coventry have scored more (14)

Swindon have only failed to score in one game this season, and that was at home.

In five of the last six games that Swindon have scored in, either Fabien Roberts, Anton Rodgers (or both) have scored.

However they have also being letting goals in at the other end. In the eight matches played this season in all competitions Swindon have kept only one clean sheet.

Only Bury (12) have conceded more goals amongst the division’s top half teams.
