Tranmere manager Keith Hill said:

“It was a tough game. I liked the character of the side, the spirit and the fighting qualities they showed. Unfortunately, we conceded a penalty but those are moments in games,” reflected Hill. “We had other moments we could have converted and we created chances. I’m really happy with the character and the identity of the team tonight.  

“I’m a bit disappointed with the result, but a good performance like tonight gives me a lot of encouragement going into the next games. I’m pleased that the players stuck together and it’s always difficult when a team goes down to ten men as they can score on the counter-attack.
