Bobby Back Soon

A huge sigh of relief has swept around Oakwell as it was revealed key defender Bobby Hassell hasn't broken his ribs and could be out for just a couple of weeks.

Hassell was stretcherd off just 5 minutes into the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth last Tuesday and fears were that fractured ribs could rule him out for the rest of the season but Reds Boss Andy Ritchie told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"Luckily it does not seem as though Bobby has broken any ribs. He is now having treatment and easing his way in.

"Bobby has been able to do some work in the pool today and we are lucky that the injury is nowhere near as bad as we feared. He should only be out for a couple of weeks".

In Hassell's last 7 games for Barnsley the defence had leaked just 3 goals. The same number has been conceded in the 2 games he has missed proving what such a key player he is. Hassell is now early favourite to be crowned Player of the Year after the sale of Jacob Burns.

There is a bit of bad news though on the defensive front as both Paul Reid and Antony Kay are struggling to be fit for another Barnsley's 3rd Saturday Six-Pointer in a row at 6th place Brentford.

Ex Red Rory Fallon left his mark on both players with Kay taking a heavy whack on his ankle and Reid needing stitches in a head wound.

Andy Ritchie told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk:

"Antony's foot and ankle are a little sore. He was caught by Fallon on Saturday and he brought his foot down the back of his ankle and onto his foot. It left him in a bit of pain.

"Paul also clashed with Fallon in the first half and was left needing stitches. We will have to wait and see how they go through the week but both should be fit for Brentford".
