Bradford 1-2 Barnsley

Last updated : 14 October 2015 By Rob Miles (BarnsleyBoy)

Barnsley have won two matches in a season’s Football League Trophy for the first time EVER!

They advance into the Northern Section Quarter-Finals where they will face York City at Oakwell on the 10th November.

Bradford meanwhile have not made it past this stage now for three years.

Each of Barnsley’s last FOUR goals have come thanks to a Conor Hourihane set-piece (two corners two freekicks)

15 of Barnsley’s last 20 goals in all competitions have been scored by Marley Watkins, Lewin Nyatanga, Conor Hourihane or Sam Winnall.

Watkins has scored four goals for The Reds, three of which have come in cup competitions and two in the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

He is the first Barnsley player to ever score more than once in that competition.

Watkins has also been booked in three of his last five appearances this season.

There were five bookings in the match (three for Bradford, two for Barnsley) all of which came in the last five minutes of the game.

Barnsley have won after conceding the first goal for the third time this season, they managed such a feat on only two occasions last season.

Barnsley have won only three of their last 10 trips to Bradford, all in cup competitions.

The Reds have won as many as three away games by October for the first time since 2009-2010.
