Interesting Stats:

Barnsley have lost just nine of 45 Oakwell meetings but they have a terrible record at Bristol, losing 32 of 44 trips and winning just four.

The last of those victories came 22 years ago in 1993, and The Reds have lost nine of the 13 visits since.

43 goals have been scored in the last ten clashes overall with 26 bagged in the last five at Ashton Gate.

It is 11 meetings ago since the last goal less draw.

Barnsley have conceded five times in two of their past three visits to Ashton Gate and they have not kept a clean sheet there in any of the past six.

Indeed the Reds have kept only one clean sheet in the past 10 meetings home and away.

There has been six penalties awarded in the last nine meetings.

These two played out a 2-2 draw at Oakwell back in October; they have NEVER before drawn both league meetings in a season.

In the ten seasons the two sides have drawn at Oakwell, Bristol City have won their home encounter on nine occasions.

The last time Barnsley visited Ashton Gate; Lewin Nyatanga was in the home side and scored.

Barnsley are travelling to the Champions elect and newly crowned Johnstones Paint Trophy winners this weekend with Steve Cotterill's side ten points clear at the top of League One and all but certain to return to the second tier of English football after just two seasons.

Bristol City have the highest number of wins (25) and lowest amount of defeats (5) in the Football League and they are currently unbeaten in seven in the league, six of which they have won to sit top of the League One form table.

The Robins have a formidable home record, having won 14 of their 19 games at Ashton Gate this season, losing just twice.

Their last home defeat was only back in February, and it came against a South Yorkshire side, Sheffield United.

They have only conceded 13 goals at home, the best record in the division and have kept clean sheets in each of their past four home matches since that Blades defeat.

In all competitions home and away Bristol City have kept four successive clean sheets, they have never managed five in a row so far this season.

Bristol's record of 32 goals conceded overall is the joint best in League One and they have conceded more than once in only eight of their 38 games, one of those was against Barnsley at Oakwell.

Scoring 73 times themselves gives Bristol a goal difference of plus 41, only Championship leaders Bournemouth with plus 42 is greater in the entire Football League.

The Robins are chasing a third successive victory in all competitions this weekend, something they have managed on six occasions already this season.

Bristol City currently have 83 points from 38 games, beating their final totals from each of the past seven seasons. Victory tomorrow will give them as many as 86 points for the first time since way back in 1989-1990 when they finished with 91. It will be only the second time in the club's history that they have managed to accrue more than 85 points in a single season.
