Captains Abandon Ship

Both Barnsley's and Sheffield United's captains will miss next Monday's South Yorkshire derby at Oakwell.

Reds skipper Stephen Foster misses out after picking up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win at Peterborough, but more significantly Blades skipper Chris Morgan also misses out after picking up his fifth caution last night when United slipped to their fourth successive defeat when losing 1-0 to Newcastle.

The suspension for Morgan will diffuse what could have been a hostile occasion as he and striker Iain Hume were set to meet for the first time exactly a year after Morgan fractured Hume's skull.

But now Morgan will miss the game, and it is also likely that Hume will only be on the bench as last weekend's starters Daniel Bogdanovic and Jon Macken both scored at London Road.

It still promises to be an exciting match with Blades boss Kevin Blackwell under pressure as the Blades- expected to push for automatic promotion after last season's Play-Off heartbreak- have dropped to 15th in the Championship and are only above The Reds on goal-difference. As mentioned before they have lost their last four games- for the first time since January 2001. They haven't lost five in a row since October 1995 and haven't lost five league games in a row since the start of that season when they lost their first five matches and former Reds boss Dave Bassett was in charge.
