Barnsley will avoid facing Championship opposition in the first round of the 2009-2010 Carling Cup when the draw is made on Tuesday (the day before the Football League fixtures are announced) after they were seeded in the Northern Section. That wont provide much comfort for Reds supporters though as last season they were eliminated in the first round by Crewe Alexandra... who finished the season in the League One relegation zone!
