Claret and Blue for Barnsley

Barnsley will need to beat Premier League opposition away from home if they are to advance into the Fourth Round of the FA Cup for the first time in six years.

The Reds will head to Turf Moor to take on 19th placed Burnley on the weekend of the 4th-7th January 2019 - the last team they defeated at this stage of the competition back in 2012-2013.

Burnley have failed to make it past the Third Round in five of the past nine seasons however then Barnsley knocked them out six years ago, both were Championship sides, and the Reds have not beaten top flight oppostion in the FA Cup since the famous 1-0 Quarter-Final win over Chelsea in 2008 - losing on the four occasions they have faced Premier League teams since by an aggregate score of 14-2.

Barnsley have also not won away from home in the Third Round of the FA Cup since winning 2-1 at non-league Bromsgrove in 1993-1994 and never have as a third tier outfit.
