Coca Cola Championship Matchday Three: Colchester United v Barnsley

Last updated : 26 August 2006 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

New recruit Colin Healy will go straight into the squad for the first battle of two promoted sides, but will have to make do with a place on the bench due to the fine form of Brian Howard and Sam Togwell.

Nick Colgan should be fit to keep his place in goal despite breaking his nose in the epic win against Hull on Tuesday and Andy Ritchie is expected to name the same line-up for the 3rd successive game.

Probable Line-Up:

Nick Colgan

Bobby Hassell

Antony Kay

Paul Reid

Paul Heckingbottom

Martin Devaney

Brian Howard

Sam Togwell

Michael McIndoe

Paul Hayes

Marc Richards

Although Barnsley lost in their last visit to Layer Road, ironically in the third game of last season, that is their only defeat there in 28 years. The Reds have however only emerged victorious on 3 occasions.

Colchester have found their first team in England's Second division as tough and have lost albeit narrowly their first two games, again ironically something they did last season before beating Barnsley in the third game!

Last season the two meetings were extremely tense, as mentioned before Colchester won 1-0 at Layer Road in August and Barnsley triumphed 1-0 at Oakwell (the last time The Reds actually won at home) in February. Both teams were promoted.
