Coca-Cola Championship Matchday Fifteen: Charlton Athletic v Barnsley

Last updated : 31 October 2008 By Rob Miles (barnsley Boy)

Team News

Barnsley boss Simon Davey could name an unchanged side for the fourth game in a row as The Reds look for back to back away wins for the first time since April. Everybody came through the win at Doncaster unscathed.

Likely Line-Up:

Heinz Muller

Rob Kozluk

Darren Moore

Dennis Souza

Stephen Foster

Jamal Campbell-Ryce

Hugo Colace

Anderson De Silva

Martin Devaney

Iain Hume

Jon Macken

Head to Head

If Barnsley are to win at the Valley tomorrow, it will be a first! The Reds have never beaten Charlton on their patch. They have though drawn in four of the last five visits including last season when a 90th minute goal from Kim Christensen-his only goal for the club- rescued a point. That game was also in October. The Reds followed up that result with a rousing 3-0 home victory in the penultimate game of last season when goals from Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Lewin Nyatanga and Jon Macken ensured that Barnsley would remain in the Championship for another year.

This Season:

Its been a terrible season so far for Charlton considering theier supporters were expecting a return to the Premier League after a year back in the Championship. It certainly hasn't materialised that way however as they sit place and one GOAL above The Reds. But while Barnsley seem to be hitting some form Charlton are going in the opposite direction. The Addicks have won just one of their last eight matches and have only won once at home since August. A proposed take-over by Zabeel Investments floundered at the beginning of the week to leave the club in turmoil.

Well its 10 wins from 54 Championship away games now for The Reds after Tuesday's 1-0 success at the Keepmoat Stadium and the last time Barnsley won away they went and did it again the following week. There will be no massive confidence boost though as Tuesday's victory came about despite a pretty poor performance and as mentioned before Barnsley have never won at Charlton and have won just once in London in the last six years!
