Team News

Reds boss Mark Robins could make changes from the side which fell to a last gasp defeat at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night. Andy Gray is pushing for a start ahead of Jon Macken whilst Emil Hallfredsson's poor form in the last two games could see him benched. Bobby Hassell- who played 80 minutes in a specially arranged game in midweek is fit again but is highly unlikely to force his way into a Reds defence which has impressed recently.

Likely Lineup:

Luke Steele

Carl Dickinson

Stephen Foster

Darren Moore

Ryan Shotton

Anderson De Silva

Hugo Colace

Emil Hallfredsson

Adam Hammill

Jon Macken/Andy Gray

Iain Hume

Head To Head

Bristol
City
make the three hour plus journey to South Yorkshire looking for their first victory at Oakwell in five visits. City haven't triumphed at Oakwell since the 2003-2004 season when both sides were in Division Two and the Robins won 1-0. The Reds indeed have a very impressive home record against the South West side having won 24 of the 41 meetings with City triumphing just seven times. It's the complete opposite down in Bristol however. There have been 40 meetings there with just four Barnsley wins. The Reds haven't returned with three points since a 2-0 win in October 1993, gained courtesy of strikes from Ian Bryson and Neil Redfearn.

Barnsley
have won two of the last three meetings at Oakwell and have kept three successive home clean sheets against Gary Johnson's men. Probably the most prominent victory came in October 2007 when goals from Brian Howard, Dennis Souza and Martin Devaney secured a 3-0 victory in a one of the best Barnsley performances seen in recent years. After that game The Reds hit the heady heights of fourth in the Championship.

Last season's two meetings saw Bristol claim four points. It finished goal-less at Oakwell in October despite The Reds dominating (ironically that was on this weekend last year!). The Reds were defeated 2-0 at Ashton Gate in January. That defeat capped a miserable run for Barnsley at the time as it was their fifth defeat in a row. Amazingly they went and ended their Hillsborough hoodoo in the following game!

This Season

Bristol City have had a pretty indifferent start to the season- unbeatable at home but yet to win on their travels. They have won five and drawn two of their seven home games but haven't won away since February when they defeated Reading 2-1. Indeed of the 12 away games since they have lost eight of those. They are undefeated in four Championship games (two wins two draws) and last time out defeated bottom club Plymouth 3-1 at Ashton Gate on Tuesday

Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest ended Barnsley's three match winning run. The Reds have also won their last three home games in all competitions (Burnley in the Carling Cup and West Brom and Ipswich in the league) It is the first time they have won a trio of home games since beating Preston, Blackpool and Watford in 2007. They haven't won four home games on the trot since 2001 when they defeated Crystal Palace (1-0), Crewe (3-0), Huddersfield (3-1) and Gillingham (3-1).
