Early Reds Team News
Reds boss Simon Davey has been handed a real dilemma for tomorrow's trip to the 32,689 capacity St Mary's Stadium.
First choice strike force Istvan Ferenczi and Kayode Odejayi are both likely to miss the game after old injuries flared up in training. This will probably give Miguel Mostto and Kim Christensen a chance to put forward their case.
Full-back Rob Kozluk also misses out after suffering a groin strain in the midweek draw at Stoke so Lewin Nyatanga is likely to come with Stephen Foster moving to right back as happened on Tuesday night.
Marciano Van Homoet, Paul Reid, Andy Johnson and Rohan Ricketts will all hope to be included after missing the last two games.
Probable Line-Up:
Heinz Muller
Stephen Foster
Lewin Nyatanga
Dennis Souza
Dominik Werling
Anderson De Silva
Grant McCann

Jamal Campbell-Ryce
Kim Christensen
Miguel Mostto
Head to Head
Barnsley have the odds firmly stacked against them to take the three points tomorrow as its been 55 years since they registered a victory on the South Coast.
You have to go back a further three years to finding a clean sheet attained there.
The last two meetings at Southampton make horrid reading as well.
Last season The Reds were hammered 5-2 on their first visit at the St Mary's Stadium when a sending off turned the game
Daniel Nardiello put Barnsley into an early lead before strikes from Kenwyne Jones (2) and Andrew Surman put Southampton 3-1 up.
Nardiello was then harshly dismissed and Surman added two late goals to put a one-sided slant on the scoreline.
SOUTHAMPTON: Davis, Ostlund, Lundekvam, Baird, Bale, Surman (Belmaldi 81), Wright, Viafara, Skacel, Jones (Rasiak 85), Saganowski (Wright-Phillips 77).

Whilst in the Premiership season Barnsley were crushed 4-1 at the Dell.
Early in the season however Barnsley earned a credible 2-2 home draw with Southampton.
Marc Richards put The Reds 1-0 up right on half-time before Grzegorz Rasiak hauled Southampton level and then put them in front with a penalty. Barnsley fought back with their own penalty however as Paul Hayes coolly slotted home.

This Season
Southampton have had a rather abject start to the season. For a team tipped for the play-offs this season it has been a pretty unacceptable start.
Just two wins from the first six games and a shock League Cup defeat against League Two Peterborough has heaped early pressure on manager George Burley.
Burley's task has not been helped though by the sale of top players Gareth Bale and Kenwyne Jones. Sales that have been forced upon him to boost finances.
Barnsley meanwhile are buoyant going into the game with just two defeats from the opening six games and on the back of two great results against Scunthorpe and Stoke where The Reds kept successive clean sheets for the first time since February- ironically the month Barnsley played both Southampton and Stoke last season.
Anything gained tomorrow though will go down as a big bonus.
